Until now, lighting was one of the most difficult steps to be taken with this model and at this scale. This kit allows the creation of realistic lighting for this remarkable subject by builders with intermediate skill levels. The kit contains three circuit boards, 65 light emitting diodes (LEDs) and all the support material necessary including associated electronic parts, wiring, battery holders, a choice of switches, red and green LEDs for the navigation lights using included fiber optic strands, porthole size diagram and etched brass details. As a bonus, the etched-brass dome covers come complete with the domes they protect. Complete instructions along with extensive Internet and bibliographical references and suggested improvements to the model are also included.

This kit is appropriate for an experienced modeler, over 15 years of age. The circuit boards must be cut out with a paper cutter or heavy-duty scissors and drilled. The drill sizes needed for accurate porthole sizes are included in the instructions. Although some experience using a soldering iron will be helpful, it is not necessary. This kit involves no delicate circuitry. The kit requires only straightforward assembly.
